Here is a snap shot of the curriculum we are using in the different subject areas in first grade.
We will be using the Daily 5/ C.A.F.E. structure for reading. The curricula is from "The Center for the Collaborative Classroom", this includes Making Meaning, Being a Writer, and later this year Being a Reader.
We will be using Words Their Way for our spelling curriculum.
In math the first grade class is currently using the Envision series. The math curriculum consists of 20 lessons based on the Minnesota State Standards and is supplimented with Rocket Math in the spring, Problem Solving, and Everyday Math.
PBIS is a behavior program that promotes positive behavior modification and directly models and demonstrates correct behavior. Our new school motto is: Nett Lake Eagles are Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Fly!
The main component of Responsive Classroom is the morning meeting. Responsive Classroom helps children develop good social skills with others students and adults.
The curriculum this year is supplied to us by Studies Weekly. It includes online activities as well as a pamphlet and hands-on activities.
